The Carmen Rose is officially one of the best places to eat in Lancashire. Not bad for a small traditional English Tearooms!
Carl and Sara were thrilled to be nominated as finalists in the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourism Awards and even more thrilled to be given the Highly Commended Award in the Taste Lancashire final. Second only to La Locanda Italian restaurant in Gisburn.
This prestigious award has, in the past, been won by the likes of Northcote Manor and The Three Fishes so we're delighted to have reached such dizzying heights having only opened less than two years ago.
The awards are given to those who excel in great food using local produce, as well as customer service and ambiance. All the food served at The Carmen Rose is sourced locally and home made by Carl and Sara with the cakes being made by Ros.
This follows on from recent success in the Greats Awards. The Carmen Rose, along with Sara's other gift shop - Sara's in Clitheroe - reached the national finals in the search for the best independent gift shop of the year. and Sara's manageress Shabana Younis was voted best employee in the country!
The Carmen Rose is an award-winning traditional English tea shop set in an old ivy covered barn in the beautiful and historic village of Ribchester. The tea room has just been awarded Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board's Highest Quality Assured Accreditation.
This acknowledges the fact that The Carmen Rose is excellent in all fields - food, drink, customer service, hospitality, and ambiance. Plus Sara and Carl have just scooped two awards at the prestigious Lancashire Excellence In Tourism Skills Awards. Carl was voted best new entrant to the industry and the couple - due to marry next March - won the Tourism Team of the Year trophy, beating off tough competition from many top hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions. For more details about these awards see "latest news" on the button above.
Sara and Carl welcome walkers with muddy boots and cyclists with muddy backs! Relax and indulge yourself in our unique ambiance - complete with a roaring log fire in the winter or sunny garden in the summer. Enjoy the delicious food and beverages, all sourced locally here in The Ribble Valley.
And if that isn’t enough you can then while some time away browsing in our amazing gift shop upstairs with everything for you, your home, family, friends and relations, or spoil yourself with our tempting selection of pates, local cheeses, home made jams, chutneys, and biscuits to take home with you.
Just about everything you see you can buy! From our beautiful tea service to the tables and chairs you sit on! The inside tables and chairs have all been made for us by Berry's Chair Works in Chipping, founded in the 1840s. Garden furniture can be ordered too. Plus Sara is a trained florist and flower demontrator. Why not take some beautiful flowers home with you or send flowers to a loved one.
Then you can enjoy a stroll around Ribchester which is widely known for its Roman ancestors and is set in the picturesque Ribble Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty, on the border of the famous Trough of Bowland. The village boasts two ancient Churches, a Roman Museum, the remains of the old Roman Baths, and wonderful walks along the river.
The Carmen Rose is open seven days a week from 9.30am (11am on Sundays) til 6.00 pm.
